BOWLING AND TENNIS
.Rough weather is not congenial lor outdoor sports, but the bowlers and tennis.; players braved , the elements <iml put in an appearance on the green on Wednesday afternoon. Shankland and Knowles (skip), the holders of the Stanseli Feathers, played Butt and Stephonson (skip). The contest was a close one and; the challengers won by 19 to 18 Fargher and Gunning (skip) mat Gardiner and Bilderbecfc .(skip) in the contest,for theTDlxon Pins. Gunning won by 23 to his opponent's 14.
Amongst those playing on the tennis courts was Mr J. W. Murray, the president of the club. Many friendly games were played. Mrs Gardiner and Miss Straiton provided afternoon too.
The Boy Scout mov«men£ is alive n Shannon again. The youngsters had a meeting in the Druids' Hall on Tuesday. evening when Mr Law explained some of the mysteries of signalling and other signs which the boys have to learn. The "Mother Goose" Company gave a performance in the Cillandia Hall- to n numerous audience on Tuesday evening. The wnr has not stopped house-TTuild-ing in Shannon. There is a fine house going up for Mr Fnrgher ancl another for 3Tr Lee who has recently come to Shannon to worlc for-3frr Richnrfison.
