For The Orphans
LAST NIGHT'S GRAND FETE. The grand fete organised by Mr vv. T. Murray and held in the Century Hall last night was a joyous time for the young people and tfiey enjoyed the entertainment thoroughly. The hall was decorated finely, the central feature being a giant Christmas Tree laden witih toys. • The decorations were worked out with greenery, bunting and festoons of coloured paper. A brief, but pleasant, musical program was given. it included two Christmas carols by the members of the Presbyterian Church choir, u
duet by Miss May McTaggort and Miss Lily Freeh tling, and recitations by Miss Ivy Mlddlemiss and Miss Maggie White. At. the conclusion of this part of the entertainment Father Christmas OVIr Mu relay) distributed the priees on>tho Christmas Tree to the childiren. Ai the stalls good steady trade was done. The stallholders were:—Sweet stall : Misses Ivy Middlemiss, Jean Smellie. and Edie Freeh tling; work stall: Miss Stewart; art and fancy goods si all: Mrs Murray, Misses Bell and Nessie Williamson. In charge of the Christmas Tree. Misses May McTaggart, Gertrude Dempsey Emily Laing, i)ors Dem,•/o.v, and Edie Slover. Iho tea rooms flid good business, mid the workers therein had a busy time. Mrs Smellie. and Misses Stevenson. Lavender and Winnie Waliter were in cTiargo. There was a fair...number of people
present, ancl the entertainment no doubt will prove a financial success.
