Bazaar at Ohau.

This'function, run exclusively by the girls ol the Ohau school on Saturday, was a pronounced success. For three weeks the girls worked and canvassed and everyone who attended the show was delighted by the display they made

There were four stalls for the sale of flowers, sweets, produco and fancy goods respectively, refreshments were served in a screened alcove at one end of the hall, and there were the usual competitions, lucky dips, etc.

Those in ('barge of the stall were.— Sweets: Tvy Olsen and Miriam Herriek. Flower: Chrissy Greig and Kathleen Stratton. Produce: Florrie Hanson, and Marjorie McLeavey. Fancy goods: Olive Kntwisle, Esma Hogg and porotliy Hendlerson. Tea-rooms: Florrie Pickering and Lvlia Hanlon, assisted by Mesdames Hornet. Hill and Hanson ant Misses Thomson and iiurrell. These were assisted Ivy a, team of small fry consisting of Alice Walton, Betty Henderson, May Drake, Hilda Ryrie. Marjorie Hogg .managed the bran tufi and three bovs, Arthur McLeavey, William Sparkes and William Davies looked after the nail-driving and were generally useful. William . Kuiti printed the notices for the stalls and Gladys Davies took monev at the door.

At two Mrs hobbell officially opened tho bazaar indicating 111 a few well-chosen words the laudable object for 'which it was held. She was presented by a small girl with a boquet of flowers and then the business of selling proceeded merrily.

Refreshments—Mesdames Olsen, .Mo"raji. Han lon, Merrick, Cameron, Hansen. Crow, Lemon, Young J. Brown, Greig, Stratton, Davies, Hill, Ryrie, Thorley, Horrobin, Sheargold, Milne, Collinson, Rowlands and .Messrs Dea.'i and Rawson.

Competition.—Mrs Clark, table centre; Messrs Stiles and Matbeson, Japanese box; \V. 'Walton (or Levin) ica.l cake.

The following assisted the girls by preparing and decorating the - stalls and Ilall.—Mesdamefi Hill, Hanson, HerI'ick. Misses Hurrell and 'ihonison, -Messrs Hanson. Henderson, JJollinger. Arcus. Colliiison, Leitch audi Sheargold. Mesdames Hanson, Herrick and Hogg worked hard canvassing tor contributions. The following won competitions:— Ladies' nail-driving. Mrs Clark (font hits): men's nafl-driving, G. M. Henderson (two hits); doll's name, I3etty Henderson.

The total takings were 7s fid less than £20 and Messrs Roland Young 5s and Mr J. (Olrau) 2s Gd volunteered; to make up difference so that the Red Cross Fund will benefit to this extent from the girls' efforts.

Mr Henderson acted as unofficial master of ceremonies in the afternoon and Mr J. Hanson in the evening, whon his energy and good humour made things go with a siring from start to finish.
