Levin Borough Council.
Ihe Levin Borough council una in the borough chambers on Monday evening last. There were present: 'Jho -Mayor (.Mr C. Ulenkhoiiij, Councillors -M. To.selJa, J. Harvey, M. Merrick, S. Jones, J. Robertson, A. Deinpsey and H. IJ. franco.
The Commissioner ol crown Lands intimated, his department s agreement t) the exchange of municipal .sections L 5 UiocJi .XIV., 7 JjlocK Xli., lor .section - Block XVII.. education reserve adjoining the Levin public gardens. The council decided to take Llie necessary steps to complete tlio exchange.
The streets committee recommended that the sum of I'G be paid to \V. Wilson 111 full settlement ol bis claim lor asphalting. The recommendation was adopted.
The council approved Ine report o; tlie streets committee that in future eases of a deficiency on tJie sale ol slock in the public pound, Ilie ranker and -poundkeeper be paid Hall' tees only with tITo exception ol tlie advertising charges which shall be paid in full.
GAS MANAGER'S REPORT. The gas manager submitted the following report:—There lias been littb l to report 011 during the month ending Xovemtmr 2(ith. U<> have done a good amount of gas fitting and havo installed two now cookers, thus making 02 in 1 iso at present. A good amount of general maintenance work has been carried out, and tlie usual amount ol time keeping the carbonising plant j'pQß^tc. Ro .street lighting:— it is my inte.itioii to follow the usual practice here that is iolloivedi in other small towns, nameh* to discontinue street lighting during the months 01 December _airi •January, the 'months known as light months. 1 have pointed out previously that tho short periods the lamps aro alight, during these months, not warrant tho time and labour necessary to keep them in order. The report was adopted.
