About two years ago the Levin Swim wing Club fell into a soa ol trouble ami remained floundering around in i up to a few week ago, when it wa< dragged out by a lew enthusiasts ,an< tlie methods for reviving the apparent iy drowned applied it. fortunately its financial pulse showed a state, ami the re-auiinated club nuidi its lirst public appearance at the baths yesterday after noon. It ib still slightly attenuated, but given a fine not summer, it will soon prosper and was iut.
The day was not an ideal one tor swimming owing to the cold •wind, and besides the water was none too 'warm, yet the swimmers seemed to enjoy Uio sport. The program was a good one, bat the ladies' race ana obstacle race were abandoned, and a race for the boys ot the Training J.'arm added :a their place. The farm .Qoys were represented strongly and have some good swimmer among their number; Repooti won two firsts and one second and .vLuLaughlin a tirst and a second. \V. Clark, ot the Levin Cluo, secured! two firsts and two seconds. The officials had the affair well under control and everything went through smooftily, and the judges, Messrs Gardener and Dempsey, satisfied everyone. Following are the winners of the various events 50yds. Handicap (open;.— Rapooti i, W. Clark 2, A.Gr. Oork 'A. Diving for objects (.open)—W. Clark (four plates), Rapooti (three plates). Adults' dash (25yds).—Rapooti 1, \V. Clark 2. -syds Handicap (boys under 16).— McLaughlin 1, A. Putan 2, Rapooti o. Hobby-horse race.— \\ erata 1, McLaughlin 2. Apple-snatching competition. — \\, Clark 1, Talii 2. dive.—A. Putan 1, H. Denton Relay race—Levin team (\Voohvright, Denton, AV. Clark, A. Cork) 1. iioys' Farm team (Putan, Rapooti, McLaugiilan, Dormer) 2. Band boys' race.—Dormer 1, Slade 'I •Before taking part in the swimming the boys' hand treated those present to several musical selections.
