(To the I'Jditor.i Sir,—J was thinking oi contesting this scat in local parliuiiieni, but uobody lias asked nie, at which 1 am more than surprised,ior truly the streets and paths down our way need much attention (to say nothing oi the cows); so tliat, as i said before, lam disappoiuted that my neighbours have not approached me with a lengthy and influential petition 1 think that is how it is usually put. Oil ilu: council, in my humble way, I have worked for the town, and my street in particular, by the policy of button-holing. Jt is not always success!til, lyr sometimes an ollicia] will hook it just as one gets most impressive. As to the councillors, tiioy alfco do not always respond in the way one could wish, ancle when you lay down the law to them you can tell by a looii in their eyes that their thoughts are as tar away as France.
