The work of re-orecting shops in Ox-ford-street on the site of those destroyed by fire eonie'weelis ago is proceeding apace, and Mr K. IS. Lucas, bookseller and stationer, hopes to lie in possession of the new premises on the site of his former shop in about a fortnights time, on December Ist, at the latest. Mr Lucas will have his new siiop stocked the latest designed goods in stationery, fancy gootTs, toys Christmas curds, etc., and also the latest 'books, popular magazines and papers. Further particulars appear on page 2 of this issue. A maid for house work is wanted bv Mrs TV. M. dark. - Messrs Ferris and Hignall will hotel •a dance in the King's Theatre next Friday evening.
