The annual meeting oi the iSliannon Defence Rille Club was held recently 1 !, iri the Mechanics' Institute. The annual report showed that very little shooting had been done during the past twelve months, except the class firing, owing to the shortage of ammunition. The club's accounts showed a credit balance of £13 13s Id. Four members have left the club to join the Expeditionary Forces, and one ex-member Trooper Law has given his life for his country in the Gallipoli campaign. The members passed a vote of condolence tc Mr Law and his family, and votes thanks were accorded to landowners who kindly allow the club free use of their lands for the range, viz., Mrs Newton, Mi's Tully, and Mr George Wood. The following officials were elected for the coming year:—Mr G. i\. Stephenson, president; Mr J. Hallam, secretary; Riflemen Law, E. Silencer and J. Hallani, shooting committee; Rifleman H. M. Richards and B. Spencer to be added to the above to form the General Committee; Mr Fargher. auditor. It was resolved to reduce the annual subscription to ss, and have the opening "shool> n of the season on Labour Day. starting at 1 p.m., and lo invite the local Territorials and Senior Cadets and the general public to join ■n the "shoot," {Tie club members to find rifles and ammunition free to alTeoinei's.
