Levin Ladies' Croquet Club

The animal meeting of the Lovin Ladies' Croquet Club was held in the schoolroom on Monday afternoon. There was a fair attendance. Mrs E, M. Herrick presided. Apologies were received from Mesdames Hall, 800, Lancaster, Freeh tling and Miss Lancaster. The* annual report was adopted as read. Its tonus were as follow :-- In presenting the first annual report of your club for 1915 1 Awsh to congratulate members on successfully establishing this club. Our president (Mrs Pyke) is absent on holiday at present. During tlm t,uaaon the green was kept m splendid order by the Howling Club, A\-ho bought a croquet set for the convenience of our club. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies for both clubs on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and was fully appreciated. I would remark on the friendliness and harmony prevailing among members. This js a pleasing feature whioh makes lov- a stroiife membership and the success of our ciuo. The advice and .knowledge of MY« KiiK, leader of the club, has been Of great assistance to players who have profited by 'her instruction. The arrangements for our first season were to hand all moneys to the bowling club .and that club -made itself responsible tor our expenses. Besides the croquet set and the advertising account our expenses were 2s 9d Tor stamps and stationery. The amount paid to the secretary of the bowling club Avas £8. All receipts are open for inspection. There Avere twentynine playing members and six non-play-ers who joined the club—players ss, others 2s (jd. All subscription* were paid. The thanks of the club are due for the use of the schoolroom for holding our meeting, and to all who assisted in helping the club to make a successful beginning. That this club may hare a good season and a prosperous j career is the wish of your secretary. j

In response to a letter to the secretary of the bowling club, a reply was received to tho effect that the arrangements made last year between the two clubs would be continued—the members of the croquet club to pay 10s each to the bowling chub, and the latter would keep the green in order anil pay the caretaker. Mrs Bryson was elected vice-preside- ' in place of Mrs H. Lodge. The following match committee was elected: Mefcdamos Clark. I'orle-ep.-,. Kirk, Keedwell and Pink". Mrs Kirk was elected lender of the club. The following new members -were electeel:—Mesdames Richtor. Sigloy. Misses Whitaker, 0. Sutherland. Pink. Tea committee.—Mesdames Gapper. S. Hall and Lancaster. All the other committees and officers of the club were re-elected. It was decided to ask tho Indies Iron the Foxton croquet cluu to be pre ■■<< on the opening day. Tt was decided that all members -who visit tho green without their mallets. and have to be sirpliod with mallets. be fined 3d on each occasion. The new members are to liave the use of the mallets at present at the green for three months, after that they must provide their own in common with last year's members.
