The most careful estimates of yields cannot but furnish mi.sleiu.liny; resulLs as to the total production if the area on which the calculation is baaed is over-estimated. The events of the past year have shown the importance or statistics of production. The Government" inusf lie guided by these hgures in deciding whether an embargo on export may be lifted. Again, it will bo on tTio information furnished by statistics as to area under crop that an estimate can be arrived at as to -what special arrangements, if any. will bo. necessary to provide- sufficient labour lor tlio harvest.
