ULL'CJT QUAKTERLV MEETING The quarterly meeting of the Levin circuit, was held in the Church on Wednesday evening. At tlie request of the president ol the conference (the Rev W. tl. E. Abbey being absent on sick lieavej tho Rev. J. J. Lewis, ol L'elone, presided; Mr Warburton( .sludeut) and twenty oHice-boarers also were present. A letter was received from the Olaki quarterly meeting acknowledging the congratulations and good wishes of th Levin circuit. The financial statement presented by the stewards. Messrs Gibson and Sorroii&m, showed the receipts for this quarter to be €91 !)is-.-reducing the indebtedness of the circuit by Cll for the quarter. .Mr "W. G. A'dkin pointed out the great advantage which the Church finance darived ironi tne envelope system of contribution, and urged that t.u invitation be accorded to contributors to further assist in this'direction. The meeting approved, and the carrying out of the suggestion was left in Mr Adkin's hands. The number of menibons returned for the quarter was 115. The Sunday school report showed 102 scholars on the roll, with an average attendance of 8-1, cradle roll !28. It was decided to devote one. Sunday's collections for Sunday school work, and to make a retiring collection for the. North Island Methodist Orphanage and the Trentham Jiuilding Euud, during the coming quarter. It'was reported that some alterations and IPpairs at the pareonage were about completed, and for this work special donations amounting to about 1*35 had been contributed. Messrs J. \Y. Gibson and .11. Sorrenson were elected representatives to the forthcoming District, Synod with Messrs \Y, U. Adkin and <1 Harvey as substitutes. It was uanimously decided to extend an invitation to the Rev. AV. H. Abbey to remain in the circuit tor a third, year— the meeting also expressed its deep sympathy with him in his illness and earnestly hoped for a speedy and perfect recovery. Mr "Warburton, who is doing Mr Abbey's work m the meantime, was welcomed by the meeting and tppreciation of his services was expressed. It was'decided to convey to two young men connected with the Church (Messrs Vincent and Eoskett) who are going
into military 'training immediately, tho meeting's gratification at their response to the call of the "Empire r.nd justice, and to express the hope that tlicy will bo preserved from danger and return to us again ere long. It was resolved to hold the next meeting on the second Thursday in January. 1910. A vote of thanks to the Rev. J. J. Lewis for presiding concluded the
