Grey-Bearded Recruits

Pathetic scenes were witnessed 'n Vicuna on Tiumsday, the linst day of the mus'eriug of the oldest classes of t'lio Laudsturm, a levy of men between tin ages of 43 and -30. .Many grey-bearded men appeared, accompanied by their wives, who waited in feverish ajixiety to learn whether their husbands were t<j bo taken or not. The summoning of llie older classes involves serious dislocation of the family and commercial life oi the city, and is causing more distress and exciting greater appreliensioUs than anythng else which has happened during the whole war.
