Territorial's Sufferings.
Information has been received by -Mr jmd -Mrs Donald Crearer, 159 Alainstreet, Alexandria, that their ion, Lauco-Corporal Jack Crearer, I'' (Alexandria) Company, machine gun section Dumbartonshire Territorials, is a prisoner of war in "lielgiu-m. In a letter to his father Lance-corporal Crearc; states that he lay seven days oil the battlefield ere lie was picked up oy the Germans. He was knocked •< it on the 2-1 tb M«y, being gasod and having one of ill's legs broken. Along with one or two comrades Lance-Cor-poral Clearer "stuck it" at the machine gun until knocked out of action. Private Crearer and his comrade. .Sergeant Lee (who is also missing) went one road and the remainder went the other. He states in his letter that lu> crawled to a ditch whore he lav for two days. Getting desperate '<e crawled out, and was making for safety when the enemy's lire became so hot that he had to no down in a big hole, liere he remained for the rest of tin l time and when picked up by the Gorman s was naturally in a bad way. Be is lying in hospital in Belgium. Lan?eCorporal Crearer is not 19 yet. lie is a native of the Vale oi Loven. This is his fourth year witn the Territorials.
