The Bev. W. il. K Abbey, accompanied by Mrs Abbey, oi L.evin, passed through Otaki on Saturday afternoon, en route for Dunedin, where they will spend some six weeks' holiday, for the benefit ol Mr Abbey's liealth.

M.r W. H. Field, M.l\"tor Otaki, has made representation to the Minister of Railways urging that week-end tickets (just authorised), be granted from Friday, instead of Saturday, to Monday. Our member pointed out that country residents Avcre unable to do their shopping in the city oil Saturdays, the lialfholiday being on that day. The Minister replied that his representations liavc been carefully considered, but ho regrets that the extension asked lor cannot be granted. Mr' Merries states that any concession in the niture of week-end tickets must be conlined strictly to the Saturday-Monday period, otherwise it established an encroachment on tlie ordinary passenger business, and this -would have a serious effect on the railway revenue.
