1 MAORI CUML'A.N 1' AT iilE KIiSU'S THEATRE The management of the King's Theati". 1 has arranged for the appearance in Levin, on race night, of the Maori Concert Company. This company concluding a most successful season by tour throughout New Zealand, and has played to large houses at Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Auckland. At Invercargill they were specially successiul. In Wellington they appeared under the patronage of their Excellencies .the Governor and Lady Liverpool, with their suite. This combination of Maori men and women is said to excel in an artistic sense a'l previous exponents of Jiakas and poi dances. Its poi dancers include several Maori belles. The "star" of the company is J?. Hakaraia, the maie soprano, who has refused time -mil again 'professional engagements in Australia and New Zealand. The great Maori comedian Jacob Utiku, is another star in the company. [Jo is said to be of a standard equal to that ol Charlie Chaplin, the famous i loving picture artist. In the Maori Company's entertainment a Hing is danced by a Maori maiden, to the tune of the pipes. Miss Millie Gilbert, dances the popular Bulgarian dance, and the company interprets •such famous Maori legends as "Hinemoa." Both "Tipperary" and "Home sweet Home" are sung by a well-known Maori maiden. The performance will lie given on Thursday evening next, ill the King's Uieatre, Levin. •nrfrwKasflnaHiJwwiMsi
