A.V AUCKLAND LODGE. Oddfellows throughout Saw Zealand liavo l'or (some time past been keenly interested in the secession .movement of ' tlic Fountain of Friendship Lodge, | Auckland. Under the rules of the Manchester ,Unity of Oddfellows .the secessionist could not effect their pin- j pose without making substantial i-n- ' dowinent provision for the non-seces-sionists of the lodge and negotiations were accordingly entered upon and re- I soil made to arbitration. As a re- , suit of this arbitration between tn«; Fountain of Friendship Lodge and the ' New Zealand branch of the Society the property of the lodge was assessed to be worth £41,185 9s 2d, and in order to comply with the secession rules it j lias now agreod to pay the Society tno sum of £10,407 4s 4d. That agreement was to-day ratified at a. meeting in Wellington of tho Grand Master and Board of Directors of the Society, • and all that remains to complete the secession is the actual payment of the money by the lodge. The following i'r the text of the esolution which was carried at'the meeting of tho Board to-day.—"That this Board, having entered upon the consideration of the actuary ascertainment and award, dated September 9, 1915, and the objections of the Board thereto having been mot by agreement be* twoen the board and the Loyal Fountain of Friendship Lodge, the tonne of ■which arc weprossod in the letter of i-lie permanent secretary of tho Grand Master, dated September 18, 1915, the .Board dotli hereby conliem and adopt the .said -ascertainment and award, but only as modified and varied by the terms of the agreement expressed in the letter of September 18. Furthermore, with respect to the party and party costs allowed to the seceding lodge by the Supreme Court the saono, when ascertained by the Court in ihe action, may be deducted from tine amount payable to tlie New Zealand branch. Should delay arise in ascertainment of the amount a, sum to cover the amount od : the claim for cofcU may be provisionally deducted, subject to adjustment vilien t<he amount of costs is fixed by the <Jourt." The following additional resolution was carried:—"That it be an instruction to the society officers to isaue the certificate of secession to tilie Foun- \ tain of Friendship Lodge, as soon as all ( conditions of tfie rules are complied with and the final settlement regarding law costs is obtained, provided tJiat , equitable refund shall be made to the lodge, after the coste are ascertained."
