Wellington,, Sept. 21. llic ll'oKtiiuister-CJi.'iici'a] announces that beginning to-day the ■postage rates on all postal packets, including parcels, but excepting newspapers, are raised by Ad both lor packets addressed for delivery within the Dominion, and for those addressed for delivery overseas. But in respect of those for delivery beyond the Dominion in countries to -which the maximum postal union rates are already that is to say 2Jd for the first ounce and lid for each succeeding ounce of letter, no additional charge will be made. Postal packets not prepaid on this scale but wanting only the Id additional charge will not bo surcharged on delivery with more than the deficient Ad. Any deficiency will not be charged before 9 o'clock tomorrow (Saturday) morning. For ordinary telegrams, delivered ■within the Dominion on week days for twelve words or less, including address and signature, urgent Is 2d, ordinary Bd, extra words Id and £d each respectively. On Sundays, urgent 2s 2d. ordinary Is I'd. extra words 2d and Id each respectively. .Sunday rates to bo charged at all offices without exception. The alteration in the rates means an addition 2d to the rates hitherto charged, week-days and Sundays. and makes the Sunday rate apply to nil offices. For cable messages the chnrgee to bo as hitherto plus 2d each message.
