'lhe vestry oi the \ en Rede's Church met ou Tuesday evening., the vicar, Rev. C. Palmer, presiding. It was resolved to purchase an acetylene gas plant fiuin .Mr Oumimg, and the vicar was empowered to see to its installation. -Mr Kckl, oi Kingston road, was elected a member of the vestry in place ol Mr Butt, junior, resigned.
Mies Griffiths, of Otaki, lias received the following letter from Lieut. T. A Davidson (late Sergt-Major of O. Company, Wellington 7th Regiment)., dated Anzac, July 21st.—"Please accept my apologies for writing you so belatedly, but 1 wish to assure your of the welfare of your brother, and to express my sympathy with you over his injury, I saw him after he .vas wounded, and reports cilice state that
he is doing well. His injury Avill not allVcl him permanently, and we ol his 1 company are looking iorward to his return. He wa sainong our best, and hiis future as a soldier was assured. His injury occurred iu one oi the moat gallant' among the many gallant exploits 0 fthe brigade. I endeavour, if possible, to get in touch with the relatives of any wounded among the men ■from my district; hence this letter to, you. New Zealand is still keeping up, its big reputation, as a fighting unit of i tlie Empire." Lieut.
