The Daily Telegraph's Rome correspondeht- learns that new landings of tbe Allied troops have taken place at Gallipoli, and fresh progress has been made at Anafarta. Ihe Turks are experiencing difficulties in feeding the army, as immense convoys are held up at Bulair. Travellers declare that the Turkish resistance cannot be prolonged beyond a month, and their ouly hope lies that the weather may paralyse the Allies' action and increase . the difficulties of Italian intervention. SUCCESSFUL WORK IK FRANCE. Paris, Sept. 8. A communique says:—The British 00-operated in bonrbfctdittg the batteries at Westende. A violent cannonade north and south of Arras, severely damaged the enemy's organization. The bombardment at Koye, Perthes, Argonne, Woevre and Lorraine continued. In retaliation for the aeroplane bombardment of the open towns of St. Die and Cerardiner, an aeroplane squadron bombarded tlio station and military establishments at Frebourgenbrigm, whence fire broke out, and also bombarded the railways at Jferonne,' Sarreburg, and other centres, and returned safely. EASTERN COUNTIES BOMiBAHDED. London, Sept. 8. Offioial.—Hostile aircraft bombarded the eastern counties yesternight. There were some fires a*u casualties. RUSSIA'S OFFICIAL REPORT. Petrograd, Sept. 8 A communique says There wero ; many enemy attacks on the Lautze river, south of Friedrichstadt, but all were repulsed. ' Amsterdam, Sept. 7. ; A Vienna communique saysißoesmerolli attacked the Russians' strongly fortified front of forty kilometres and oaptured Castle Podkamien. There was a violent hand-to-hand oonflict, an • all-day-long battle on the height of ' Makutra. and other points which wero vigorously defended, but finally the Russians everywhere evacuated their positions. i
