Potatoes are in good demand, aud large supplies could be taken. VVe strongly ireooimmend our xN'ortii Island clients not to hold hack supplies, as a slump may oocur towards the end of the season, and early Spring is in sight. Seed potatoes are in fair demand, and good lines are offering. These are still being shipped to Australia in large quailfcitics. Very littlo business is passing in any grains excepting African maize and seed oats, for Avhicli there is a fair demand. . Pollard and bran have fallen again m value, and much larger trade is now anticipated. Chaff is quiet,, and hay is hard to sell. An excellent demand continues for farm and grass seeds, and large quantities ol fertilisers are being uooked up tor Spring delivery. Porkers are in good demand. Eggs are stationary. Liuseed oil cake meal is in good demand, tor calf feediug and each season sees a much larger consumption of this pure and valuable food. We advise clients to pass in their orders for maize while supplies are available. Hickory King maize is now available at a price on a par with that of normal seasons, and orders should be booked at once. The market is wer-supplied with choice cauliflowers and savoy cabbage, and high prices are ruling tor well packed
liues. lronbark pumpkins arc scarce, and tlio small consignments offering meet keen competition. Choice lettuco is in short supply, and high rates are ruling, tiwedos meet lair sale only, and tlxe enquiry for parsnips is quiet. Choice table carrots and wliito turnips are selling ait higher rates. Choice celery meet excellent demand. Spring onions and leeks are selling freely. Small consignments or rhubarb nave arrived from the Hutt during the week and keen competition prevails. A good demand continues lor choice cooking and dessert apples, and ive could handle large consignments. Choice lines ol dessert pears are eagerly bought up at higih irates.
