Our entanglements were covered with heaps of German bodies, but the Gerniau artillery developed maximum intensity, siieu-.ed our guns and demolished the loriilications between the Vkra aud the .Narev, after which the dulcn-'i ders, despite all efforts, were obliged to withdraw to the right bank of tho Vttra. The Germans wore thus enabled to concentrate efforts on the northern tector between the \ Jira and tho v istula. .
