A general meeting of the Levin Ladies' Patriotic Committee was lield iu the Council Chambers yesterday afternoon, to consider the necessary arrangements for the send-off to the inen from this district who are to leave on the 24th August to join the next reinforcements. An apology for non-attendance was received from Airs G. jvingdon. Mrs W. Hughes was voted to tho chair. Mrs. Goldsmith explained the ob-Sergt.-iUajor Daniels explained that Sorgt.-M.ojor Daniels explained that live men of tho reinforcements already had signified their intention of being present at the send-off. After some discussion ife was decided to lutvo a "social" evening, with music, dancing, games, etc. Mesdames )Uork and Vincent and Miss Sedcolo were appointed a committee to take charge ol tho games. it was reported that Mr. D. S. Mackenzie had offered to lend a piano. Mesdanies Gardener, Hughes, Miss •Smith, and Messrs. Hughes and Mackenzie were deputed to attend to the niusica 1 progra nunc*. It was decided to give the send-olf on Eriday, 20th inst. The charge for uumission was fixed at '2s. Tiie catering will be carried out by the ladies thomselves. Many oilers of refreshments were received from the ladies present. Arrangements were made for billeting lor the night ail recruits who attend the '"send-off." A further meeting of the committee will be held on Wednesday evening next.
