Levin's Reserves and Gardens.
In his general report on borough a {fairs, considered by the Burundi Council 011 .Monday night, Mr P. W. Ooldsmith made tli& following reference to reserves and gardens. The small Public Gardens established at the corner of Cambridge and Bath-streets has been kept in order bv the Council, and the plants and shrubs planted bv Lhe Beautifying Society appear to be thriving. No effort should be spared by the Council to secure the adj.lining section for adding to the gard.-is at a further date. The Council h- also undertaken to take control of tie? "Waipehu .Scenic. The immediate necessity appears to be to ckmiplete Hie loilc in» around the reserves. The (.'Ollll- - also charge of the Levin Park Domain under '"Hie 'Public Domain and Reserves Act. DOS," ami the Levin Public Cemetery under section 55 of : 'The Cemeteries Act, 1908". For each of these, separate accounts and books have to be kept. With regard t'- the Cemetery. a portion of the ground has been worked, ploughed and levelled, the stones removed, and the ground laid down in grass. It will now be possible to have the grass properly cut and kept in order.
