[ iy our Resident Representative.] -Mr. Vincent came from Levin and conducted a sale of Mr. Judd's loiongiug.s at hit* house on die main ruud on Tuesday afternoon. There was a goud attendance of buyers although the weather was very wet anil Mr Vincent olfoctod a clearance of all the articles offered at .satisfactory prices. The wot weather has put a .stop to much of the outdoor work, especially among the tiaxmill hands. PRESB VTEIMAX CH L'RCH. The annual social in connection with the Presbyterian Church which was to have been held on Wednesday evening, was postponed in consequence of the inclemency of the weather. A few member* braved the elements and met in the Church at the appointed hour. After singing a hymn the Rev. Mr. Bi-ediu offered prayer. He then briefly addressed this present and said they might regard this meeting as a sort of "preliminary cantor" to the larger meeting that would bo soon held. Miss Laurvig sang "Tha Star of Bethlehem.' , Her line voice was probably never heard to bettor advantage, and the reverend chairman voiced the opinion of the audience when he said that none of them would regret, their walk throdgh the wei after hearing Miss Laurvig's song. Mr. s GiUon sang "Tin; Beautiful Prayer, ' giving a very good rendering of a beautiful song. Master Reggf ( > Merwoo'l played a violin solo, while tTio refreshments were being handed round. The -social which is to follow this preliminary gathering will bo held on Friday July 30.
