A slip occurred this morning on thy Main Trunk line just north of Bennett's siding, blocking the passage of the Auckland-Wellington express which was due at Taihape at 8.30 a.m. u train-load of men have gone to r-move the obstruction, but it is not known when the line will be celar for traffic. AUCKLAND EMPLOYERS' ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. Auckland. This Day. The presence af an organisation of Syndicalists in Auckland was mentioned by Mr Craig, president ot the Auckland Employers' Association at the annual meeting. He said that a "direct actioilist" group had established its headquarters in this and were openly ad ■ ocating scientific sabotage as being the most powerful weapon of the militant minority. He made a statement that members of the Association should be aware of the presence in the city of such dangerous individuals. Continuing, 'Mr Craig, said that the industrial position was grave. (Business was being carried on without profit, except in a few industries; in many cases at a loss. He believed that the amount of income tax returns this year would show a. substantial decrease. It would be advisable if warnings were repeatedly given by those in authority concerning, the stringent financial conditions likely, to obtain during the Avar and lifter.
