An Austrian official message states that after crossing the Volitza wo advanced on the enemy's position on tho heights and took prisoner 3000 men. Official.—The enemy column in the Riga-Shavli region reached the TukumDoblin front and advanced on the 18th southwards' towards .Hofzumbergc and Benini. The Cossacks rauled the enemy's rear north of Skiony, capturing ai important convoy. Wo continue to press the enemy in the Popeliano region. W T e repulsed attacks on out Shavli positions on the night of tlie 17th and dislodged the enemy from the last "trenches on tlie Trans-Niemon front which we won the loth. The enemy assumed the offensive on the Narew front, capturing a position on the right bank of the Pissa on the 17th. We repulsed attacks on the left Bank of the Skva, near Vym-Pehetchviak. Our troops west of Omulieff withdrew towards the Narev bridgeheads where tho fight i'esolved itself into an obstinate rearguard action. The enemy attacks on the Wilkolaz-Dykhava front in tho direction of Lublin were repulsed but the enemy captured tho Krasnostaf and Vieprz fords above. We repulsed many attacks on th right bank of the Vieprz, but the enemy established himself on the right bank of tho Volitaa and ive therefore withdrew to our second line. We repulsed four furious attacks on our front near Grabovice, and drove the enemy back on the 17th between tho Genichua and the Bug from all his trenches. Desperate fighting continues in the Sokal region and also along the Dniester. There were no serious engagements in other directions.

Tho Russians were repulsed at several points in Courland. 'We captured tho enemy's positions north of tile-confluence of rivers Skud, Skroda, and Pissa. We reached the Narev, northward of the mouth of the Skiva and occupied some the permanent ioi tifications of Ostralenka on the north west bank. Our troops, south of the Vistula advanced as far as Blonie and Grodzisk. In rearguard actions the Russians lost 560 prisoners and two machine guns. In the south-eastern theatre all the Russian counter attacks were repulsed and we took prisoner 5000. Our troops are closely pursuing tlie enemy. Our cavalry reached the Radom-lvangorod railway.
