GUSTAVE HERVE'S OPINION.
Fans, July. IS. Gustave Herve, in the Guerre Sociale, denounces the South Wales strike as high treason against England and France and all the Allies. (Received This Day 1.55 p.m.; SIR JOHN FRENCH'S REPORT., London, July 18.
Sir John French reports that the situation is unchanged since the oth, though considerable activity has been shown by the enemy and ourselves in springing several -mines. Our front also was subjected to heavy bombardment at various places. The enemy on the 10th developed a small attack north of Ypres and a gained a footing in our front line, but our local support mmediately recaptured what was lost. The enemy on the Uth rushed an advance position on the Ypres-Monin road, but wefre driven out immediately. Further north the same night we lost a trench held by one company ijiit bombarding parties drove o.ut the G'.'mans and re-occupied it. A feature o f the incident was tTie German employment of many) gas shells.
