['3y our Resident R-epresentativo.] PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE. A meeting of the patriotic committee was hel din the Mechanics' Institute on Thursday evening, Mr S. W. ' Carter in the chair. The secretary, Mr J. JJovis, presented the report and balance-sheet which were adopted. It was decided to foil ward a small amount in hand (CI 15* 2d) to Wellington Patriotic Fund. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr Waring-Tay-Jor for the use of his motor car during the carnival, also to the secretary and chairman for the capable manner in which they had carried out their respective duties. The following additional amounts have been forwarded to "Wellington: Van Croon 18s (id. Mm Rita Terry lOd. The balance-sheet above mentioned showed that the receipts were: Cash collected £208 os 9d, voting books sold £24 7s ; badges £2 lis motor car receipts £4 12s (id; total receipts £239 178 3d. Expenditure: Amount remitted £238 2s, leaving a balance in hand of £1 15s 2d which was sent to the "Wellington Patriotic Fund. The Cherniavukys appeared in Shannon at the Gillandia Hall on Friday night. There was a good house and Shannon has never before been treated to such a musical entertainment as that given by these talented musicians. They showed themselves masters of their various instruments and each item was deservedly encored. The Cherniavskys take with them the good wishes of all lovers of music. I

Mr of Koputaroa. had the misfortune to be knocked down by a Shannon railway on Friday. He sustained some nasty scratclies on the face but hi« v injiiries are not serious.
