By this time suspicion was aroused, and the police made diHgeut search for the missing man, wflo was ultimately run clown and arrested by Constable Harnett at the Gear Co.'s Works in Petone. Tho constable took his man to Christchurch where lie -was charged with attempting to defraud the insurance company, and sentenced to a long term oi imprisonment.
