The Ashburtou Guardian sayts: There s a dearth of labour for larm purposes just at present, and there is no reason why any man capable of doing manual labour should be out of employment. Tliu war has taken away so many of the young men -engaged as farm labourers that farmers are pleased to get men however inexperienced. The expliotation of farmers by certain agencies in the sale of separators was alleged at the conference of the National Dairy Association at Palmerstoii N., when Mr Garth said he.considered that the dairying industry had been so exploited by fully of) per cent. He told an instance where a company had been offered 27J per cent, to push the sale of a separator, lie asked the help of the National Dairy Association, and moved: "That in view of the increasing arid continued demands for separators, the National Dairy Association take immediate, steps to prevent a-! far as possible the exploitation of dairy farmers by sole agencies in selling of separators." Mr Martin (Waitaugi) said that his company had received a circular from an agency,- offering them commission as stated to 'push the sale of its separators through the suppliers. .If an agency were able to do that, what profit was it making? He seconded the motion, which was carried.
