OTAKI STOCK SADE. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limiteu, report having held their monthly safe in the Otaki yards on Tuesday, 6th inst., when they a good attendance of the public a Heavy yarding of good quality sheep and a fair entry of cattle. Bidding for sheep was keen, but cattle met with rather a dragging sale. There was an especially keen dojmand for .wethers and hoggets, also for fat sheep and we succeeded in disposing of our total entry under the hammer at excellent prices. The following sales were effected:—Forward ewes and wethers 21s 3d; fat wethers Sos Id to 2bs '2d; neavy weight fat tiwua 20s 8d; .medium fat ewes 22s lid; empty store ewes lis to 12s 8d jgood hoggets 15s Id; cull hoggets 7s 2d. Springing heifers £4 tc £5 10s; empty cows £3 Is to £3 8s; speyed cows (light condition) £4 ss; empty cows £3 Is to £4; light weight fat cows £5 10s to "fO; weaner steers 35s to 39s Gd. !
LEVIN MARKETS
FRUIT. The manager (Mr D. Smart) of the Horowhenua Fruitgrowers' Association depot reports for the week ending Friday: There was a big enquiry for apples during the weeE, but the market was bare of supplies. Potatoes have tinned considerably aiuT'are now selling at 10s per sack, or from £(j to £7 per ton. A bid demand exists for seed potatoes and they are selling freely at from £5 per ton for Northern Star to £1) per ton for Dalmeny Beauty. Onions wore slow of sale .n small quantities at Id per lb. OTHER PRODUCE. For other lines of produce the following prices are ruling at the local stores:—Potatoes £7 per ton; onions £0 10s to £7 py ton; eggs Is 3d" to Is id per dozen; butter Is 3d per lb.
