NEEDS REQUIRED TO SOW AN ACRE.

jtlarley, 2| to 2| bushels; beans, 2 lo 2J bushels; buckwheat, or brank, 1J bushels; cabbage (drumhead), to transplant, 1 lb; canary, 3 pkgs; carrot in drills, 8 to 12 lbs; clover, 14 to 17 lbs; furze or gorse, for feed, 20 to 24 bs; do. for single-line fencing, to sow one mile, 3 to 4 lbs; kohl rabi (turniprooted cabbage), to transplant, 1.lb; do., drilled, 4 lbs; linseed, for flax, 2i bushels; linsee<l, for seed, 1J bushels; lucerne, broadcast, 20 lbs; do., drilled, 15 lbs; mustard, white, 1 pkt; mangold wurtzel, 5 lbs; oats, 3 to 4 bushels; parsnip, 10 lbs; rape or cole, 1 p&t; rye, 2i to 3 bushels; rye grass (if drilled, one-fourth less), 2 to 2{ bushels; sainfoin, giant, 5 bushels; tares, winter, 2J bushels; do., spring, 2 to 2£ bushels; trifoliu.m incarnatuui, 21 lbs; turnip, 2 to 3 lbs; turnip, stubble, 4 lbs; wheat, 2{ to 2J bushels. LAYING DOWN A LAWN. I WEen it is desired to form a la.vu, the ground should be trenched as directed for the vegetable garden any time during the autumn. If the plot can he prepared in March, a season may be gained by sowing the grass seed during that month; the Miriace must be thoroughly pulverised ami trodden down linnly. The following is a good mixture, il procurable:--Crested Dog-tail, 2117k; Festuca tenuifolia, 41bs; duruscula, 21bs; Lolium teuuirolia pereniie, 20lbs; White clover ,2lbs; Trifolium minor, 8)bs; l'oa Nemoralis and Sompervireiis -libs of eacTi. This mixture will uf-tice-J'or half an acre, and wii! form a very good lawn, aud it kept cut clo.-v answers most soiln. Special mixtures for laying down lawns may also he nad lioin any seedsman. &01110 of our native poas and other grasses would answer admirably lor lawn purposes.
