A Native Land Court -will 6it at Palmers ton North on July 17th. A verdict of "death from natural causes" was returned by tlie district coroner (Mr W. C. Nation) at the inquest on the 'body of the late Mrs Bovey. Dr Bryson gave evidence that death probably was due to apoplexy. A brooch lost last Monday evening between Stuckeynstreet and the Druids' •Hall is advertised for. A motor car owned by Mr 35. Batt, of Weraroa, was totally destroyed by dire on Beach-road, yesterday. It was VSifig flriven by Messrs E. (Batt and E. C. Hodgman "when from some unexplained cause it took fire. Tests at the Levin Co-operative I>airy factory, Ltd., which Have been very high all the autumn now are showing the customary vagaries of early winter. A good many cows are being "dried off," and naturally the butter-fat declines. Amonget the latest recruits for the front is Mr F. J. Butcher, compositor, of the Chronicle staff. Included in the final remittance of £520 sent from Levin (on Saturday evening) for the Queen Carnival competition was a cheque for £41 from the Shananon committee, and a final £10 from Waikanae. The amount furnished by Tokamaru (£337 had been sent away previously.
