CARNIVAL YIELDS £100,000.

Wellington, June 27. The "Queen Carnival-' closed last night and resullted in the election of Miss K. Doughty, the Commercial Travellers' candidate, who beat Miss McCormaok, the Trentham Soldiers' representative alter an exciting finish. There were fifteen candidates and the voting for the leaders was as follows: Miss Doughty 1.753,251 Miss McCormack 1,703,475 Miss Senior (Hutt) 986,919 Miss McKegg (Manawatu) 589,614 Mies Palmer (Public Service) 585,478 Miss Low (Drapers) 579,793 Dr Platt Mills (Tramways) 557,612 - The total votes cast for all candidates were 7,630,017, representing £63,658. It is expected that other receipts from the carnival activities will make a total of £100,000.
