In the- humorous items at the piano Mr Ernest :Liiks, of Wellington, paid the penalty ol' giving perlonnances that took favour with thoee- present, and before they let him oif nif> two items batPgrown to nine. Another favourite item with the audience was Mrs H-. D'AfJi's singing of Waiata i-*oi'' accompanied by a poi dance l>y the Otaki Maori'girls in native eostnuie. It ivas tt fine perforniance and it had to be fepeafed twice. All the other performances were not behind these items, and the fact that the performers were not asked lor _&o many encores as JVI •; fi. D'Atli and i\lr Ernest •LuJse is accounted for probably by the fact that the audience telt is could proha&ly that the andiunce r elt it uon! \ not go without sleep. Gardener), on behalf of ihe people of Levin, thanked the concert party for the splendid concert they gave them. During the interval Mr W. Simpson eold a bauy'e bonnet and jacket and for for the two articles £3 <s wae received. Thie eum,' together with the £1 18s at ijje singing of "Tlie Absent-minded Beggar," and 14s fid from sale of vere«s, making a total of £7 Is apart from the amount taken at flip door, so that i the concert also was successful from a financial point of view.
