Levin Borough Council
The ordinary fortnightly meeting ol tho Leviu Uorough Council, was heJ-J in the Council Chambers iast evening. There were present: Councillors M. ■Foseila,' J. Harvey, E. M. Herrick, T. G. Vincent, S. Jones, J. Eobertson, A. Dempsey, and U. BlenKliorn. Owing to indisposition leave of absence was granted to the Mayor (Mr B. I{. Gardener) the council passing a motion of sympathy with him. Csimcillor France not having recovered fully from his recent accident. h was granted further leave of absence. In the absence oi thy Mayor Courir cillor Blenkhorn took the chair. Tihe streets; committee recommended that applications be called lor the posi' tion oi pounclkeeper at' present rat<is> of remuneration, viz., £10 per annum and the fees allowed under the act; applications to be in by the next council inewting. The report was adopted. .An application was rcwived from FKoberts for an extra Is per day for himself, horse and dray, owing to the increased price of horse feed. At pre6ont he was being> paid 13.s per day. The application was granted.
