F'uiui. The Patriotic Carnival ,vill stand .'or many a day as Levin's criterion of (success. This result has been aehiuvud through the hearty co-operation oi cveiy .section <ii the coiiinumitios. There was a splendid co-operation oi the .several towns and district.-, ol the county to make the carnival the great- event thai it proved to lie, and so very many strenuous workers have taken part in the preliminaries ami dualities that all need to be classed in a general clause to avoid the making- oi invidious dis-tinct-ion. Nunc the less, the persistent unostentatious endeavours of the general chairman of committees (Vlr \V. Hughes, of Levin) must be mentioned in common fairness. His guidance has been of the greatest help to the bands of willing workers, and to Messrs I>. AV. Matlieson and C. S. Keedwell, the joint lion, secretaries, whoso wholehearted eo-operation made possible the great success of the carnival. The 'Mayor of Levin and the Town Clerk also have been zealous workers.
