Tlie disp'lay lasted some three houra, and was said to bo tho Aurora Australia. Viewed from Napier's Parade the sceno was one of magnificence. Tho sky had a, fiery rod appearance and along tiie horizon was a sombre half light. Willi continuous rapidity great streamers of light shot upwards through the fiery bank above. HASTINGS RACES. Hastings, This Daj. The weather is glorious and tho course in excellent conditions for the races to-day. Results— Woodlands Steeples.—Fond Memory 1, Bol"iin 2, Pelican 3. All .started. I'ai aina. Grey Renown and Country Boy let!. Time 4min 'M sees. Hawke's Bay Hurdles.—Waipunoa I, Cornelian 2, Aruake 3. Scratched: Immensity, Queen's Post and Aratiatla. Won by a neck; sevoral lengths separating second and third horses. Time 3min 59sees. „
