A fierce battle is in progress on a toni-niilc front from Renzine and Gargaro northward of Gorizia.' The Italian artillery is pounding the Austrian fortifications, especially in the vicinity of Tolmino. The Italians have occupied several heights dominating Gorizia. Amsterdam, June IS. The Austrian official report says:— There was heavy fighting on the whole Galician front. Mackenson's army !* lighting heavily on both sides of the Krakmusce and towards Olesycys. Strong Russian forces are defending the bridgeheads at Miklojow, Zydaozow and Halicz against Von Ldnsingen's forces while further down the river we captured Zalescyzyki. A German official report -admits: — We have not yet captured the ground lost north-west of Soissons. A hostile air squadron bombarded the unfortified town of Karlsruhe. Eleven civilians were killed and six wounded. One of | ■ • our war planes brought down an en- •■• emy aeroplane, and ite occupants were killed. Tt daims further successes on ih<» eastern front and says Von Maritz captured Moscizek and Vo£ 1-in-singen's crivalny reached the district south of Marianpol.
