Levin Markets
STOCK SALE. One of the most successful stock sales held in Levin for «omo considerable time was held on Friday afternoon at their yards by Messrs Abraham and Williams. There were good entries of all classes of stock, a large number of buyers present, and prices showed an advance on those obtaining at previous sales. The demand for sheep was particularly good, and. every line entered was sold. Fat owes sold to 255, and fat wethers to 28s Od. These prices were realised for entries from the Weraroa Experimental Farm. The demand for cattle was nearly as good as that which prevailed for sheep, and an almost total clearance* was effected Light fat cowfi sold to £/. The sales of store cattle were better than is usual at this time of the year. Regarding pigs, fats sold well. At the beginning stores wore dull of sale, out they were in greater request towards the close. Messrs Abraham and W'illiams will hold a sale next Friday, and from Whence onward till further notice their sale will be fortnightly. FRUIT: Mr D. Smart, manager of the HoroTvhenua Fruitgrowers' Association, reports for the week ended Friday.-— There was a fair supply of apples, .principally Wasliingtons. Prices ruled from 6s to 7s 0d per case. There was a good demand" for onions at Id per lib. Potatoes were a little dull of sale at 9s per sack. OTHER PRODUCE. Prices ruling at the local stores for other lines of produce are as follows: — Potatoes £4 to £0 10s; onions £6 to £ti 10s: butter Is 2d (daily to le.3d per lb (separator); eggs Is 9d to Is 10d. '
