SEEDS REQUIRED TO SOW AN ACRE.

Uarley, 2i to %i bushels; beans, 2 to 2J bushels; buckwheat, or brauk, 1J bushels; eabbngo (drumhead), to transplant, 1 lb? canary, 3 pkgs; carrot in drills, 8 to 12 lbs; clover, 14 to 17 lbs; furze or gorse, lor iced, 20 to 24 : bs; do. for single-line fencing, to sow one mile, 3 to 4 lbs; kohl rabi (turniprooted cabbage), to transplant, 1 lb; do., drilled, 4 lbs> linseed, for Has, 2J bushels; linseed, for seed, 1J bushels; lucerne, broadcast, 20 lbs; do., drilled, 15 lbs; mustard, white, 1 pkt; mangold wurtzel, 5 lbs; oats, 3 to 4 bushels; parsnip, 10 lbs; rape or cole, 1 pkt; rye, 2J to 3 bushels; rye grass (if drilled, one-fourth less), 2 to 2J bushels; sainfoin, giaut, 5 bushels; tares, winter, 2J busheLs; do., spring, 2 to 2J bushels; trifoliiMn iucarnatum, 24 lbs; turnip, 2 to 3 lbs; turnip stubble, 4 lbs; wheat, 2i to 2J bushels. LAYING DOWN A LAWN. WfTeh it is desired to form a latvn, the ground should be trenched as directed for the vegetable garden any time during the autumn. If the plot can be prepared in March, a season may be gained by sowing the grass seed during that month; the surface must bo thoroughly pulverised and troddou down firmly. The following is a good mixture, if procurable:— Crested Dog-tail-, 21175; Festuca tenuifolia, 41bs; Festuca duruscula, 21bs; j Loliuni tenuifolia pcrenne, 201bs; White clover ,21bs; Trifolium minor, 81bs; Poa Nemoralis and Sempervireiis -libs of each. This mixture will ''uffice for half an acre, and will form a . very good lawn, and if kept cut close answers most soils. Special mixtures for laying down lawns may also be nad from any seedsman. Some of our native poas and other grasses would answer admirably for lawn purposes. If the ground is of a retentivo nature, sowing the seeds should bo deferred till August. Commence to cut as soon as tho machine will act. Some ore--I'er the scythe for the lirst time of cutting. Roll previous to mowing; this will save the knives ot the mower.
