Levin School Committee

The monthly meeting oi the Levin {School Committee was held in the acliool room on Monday evening. There wore present: Messrs A. Sinus, (chairman) H. V. Gapper, W. Bull, \V. Thomson, N. 0. Holdaway, T. Broome, l'\ l>. Smith, Rev W. H. E. Abbey, and Rev H. T. Stealey. A letter was received from the Education Board stating that the Wellington City Council did not charge the school committees any sanitary lees. The matter was referred back to the board with a request for an explanation why the auditor passed the matter over, when checking the Wellington committees' books, but "tagged" the Levin committee's books to the effect that it should pay sanitary lees. The Education Board offered to pay half the oost of a gas lieater for the head teacher's residence. The visiting committee for the past month recommended that some metalling be done in the school grounds, the (hedge along the front trimmed anil that the Education Board bo asked to havo the buildings painted as soon as possible Mr Bull was elected secretary. The chairman and secretary were appointed to sign all cheques and Rev. AY. H. E. Abbey was appointed to audit the books before they were handed over to the new secretary. Rev. H. T. Stealey and Jir Holdaway were appointed visiting committee for the ensuing month.
