Levin's Carnival
Last evening representatives of tiie various Friendly Societies and other bodies met the chairman. Mr D. W. Matheson, in the Council Chambers, and intimated their intention to take part in the procession in full regalia. The societies represented were tlie Foresters, Rechabites, Druids, Hibernians, ■Levin Brass Band, Levin Fire Brigade and Lievin-"Wanderers' i'ootball Club. <o\viiig to the members of the Hibernian Society being scattered there will perhaps be a little difficulty in getting a full number, but Mr T. Johnson said that tliey would do their best. Tlio Levin-Wanderers will appear in fancy dress. The Boys' Brass and Pipe Bands from the Weraroa Training Farm and the Salvation Army Band, will take part in the p ocession and also the Cadet Company. Arrangements are being made to obtain several large marquees and erect then 011 the grounds. What is bound to prove an interes-t----ing event is the balby competitions, one limited to babies under ton months and the others to babies under eighteen months. There -will be numerous guessing competitions of all descriptions. The management committee intend to approach th<T"*County Council and see if it is possible to arrange for a holiday on Wednesday ifor the -Council's employees. - The procession will leave the railway . for the park domain at 10.30 a.lll.
