iA troupe of Maoris to give haka and pui dances in Wellington. Palmerston and elsewhere is being got together iii Levin and Otaki districts. It is likely that a concert will be given in Leviii.
A euchre party, in aid of the funds of the Queen Carnival, is to be given in Levin on Friday, lltli June. It is likely that a gymkana. will be held on the Levin Recreation Ground on Wednesday. 16th June.
A concert party from Levin is to give a conceit at Otaki on Thursday, 10th Juine to raise money for the Queen Carnival Fund. A return concert by an Otaki concert party will be given in Levin on or about Tuesday, 22nd June.
The Gisborne Carnival Queen election concluded on Saturday night. No lower than 2,647,209 votes were recorded, realising the huge sum of £22,060 Is 6d, which is claimed to bo a New Zealand record.
It is with pleasure that the we noted the fact that the Levin Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, has again distinguished itself at tTie JDunedin show whero it gained two "firsts and two (second prizes. These "will include two cups and two gold medals. It lias further proved its metal at the Waikato show where the hundred-guinea challenge cup, given by Messrs Lovoll and Christmas, has been won by them, together with a gold medal. We congratulate the manager on his success. It must be gratifying to him and to the efficient staff of the company to find that their work has met with sticli rewards. A most enjoyable social gathering was hold at Koputaroa last night n connection with the Queen Carnival. Mr and Mrs B. R. Gardener attended, and at the interval Mr Gardener gave a speech in which he dwelt upon the desirableness of helping the movement to secure pensions for wounded soldiers. Tho meeting was enthusiastic, and tho monetary response amounted to ever £65 in cash and promises. With the. area planted out with fruit trees last year, and the area to he planted this year, close on 60 acres in the Heatlierlea settlement and its immediate vicinity will be placed under fruit in two years. It is stated in Tiniaru that offers have already been made of 6s per bushel season's wheat.
