At a meeting oft the Otaki Hockey Sub-Association' held last night in Otaki, it was decided to hold a five-aside tournament at Otaki on June 16th. The Wellington Association and the PalAssociation have been invited to send te,ams to take part in the tournament. ' It ie understood that the Palmerston ; Association will be represented. ; ,
At the; Horowhenwa County Council meeting to-day, Councillor Venn congratulated CouncilldriMonkon comimitting j"the heinous crime of matrimony eihee their last meeting." He believed [that it was the first time.since he had I been on the Council that councillojr had taken such a step. Other councillors pointed out that the efiairman had done the same thing, and added,.their congratulations to Councillor Monk. The latfer briefly returned thanks.
Councillor Venn stated at to-day'e meeting of the Horowlienua iGounty Council meeting, referring to the proposal to increase tfie price for small birds' heads, that if it was done they would have a lot or little Germans in the district. The hoys were cruel enough now, and wringing the necks of email birds would not improve them.
The recommenaation passed at the conference held last week to devise means for dealing -with the small bird pest came before the Horowhenuia County . Council to-day. After some discussion, Councillor Venn moved that the Council agree to pay *h> iwereaeed price for small birds' egg& o«sy atftf to place £60 on the estimates for the purpose. Conneillor Stephenson seconded the motion and it wae carried.
