The Mayor has made a suggestion to the Patriotic Society to recommend the Government to impose a shilling increase on first-class 'railway fares as a means of increasing the War Fun 3. The Society decided to forward a recommendation to the Government that Captain Goldingham be placed at the disposal of the Mauawatu Patriotic Society. His cottage at Paekakariki contains four to six beds for convalescent soldiers. He will bear ffie «v»t of upkeep himself.

One' managed to reach the shore, but the other was drowned. The horse wae rescued after a good deal of difficulty as he had got entangled in the harness.
