Amongst latest offers to help the local Carnival Fund is one trom Mr O. S. Keedwell, who proposes to give 10 per cent, of next Saturday's cash takings to the Fund. A further sum of £50 for the Queen Carnival Fund has been subscribed by .Mr D'Ath, of Ohau. A meeting of sportsmen to form a .Racing Club for Levin and district will be held in the Town Hall, Levin on Monday next. Details are advertised on page 4.
Mr and Mrs B. !R. Gardener addressed a public meeting at Okau on Wednesday night in connection with tlie Queen Carnival and m spite of a wet night, a very large number of residents attended. Oommitteee were formed and officers appointed, and all promised to do their share to place ouir "Queen" at the head of the poll.
A very large and enthusiastic meeting was held at Otaki last night, Mr and llts Gardener, together with Miss McKegg attending. Mr Uardener explained the reason of holding tlie "Queen" Carnival and tooik the opportunity of introducing our "queen" to the Otaki people, who gave her a flattering reception, including three hearty cheers. A committee of some 120 ladies and gentleman was tormed in. the room and all appeared anxious and willing to forward the objects of the carnival. During the evening a rough BaTance-sheet was in connection with the garden party held on Wednesday at the residence of Mr P. A. Gillies, and which showed a credit of £42. Otaki is to to Heartily, congratulated .on their first effort. A good general eervant w advertised for in this ism*.
