CONVICT' RECAPTURED. New Plymouth, This Day. The convict Findlay wiio escaped troni the local jail on Monday night was captured at Oaonui yesterday evening. NAPIER RESIDENTS IN BERLIN. Napier, This Day. The relatives of Mr G. J. King, of Napier, formerly proprietor of tlie Terminus Hotel, yesterday received a telegram from the High* Commissioner, Loudon, that King and his wife are in Berlin. King for a time was interned in the civilian camp in Berlin, hut now is released. The Hon. T. McKeiizie said that he has been able, from tune to time, to assist King with money. Shortly before the war ilr aiid Mrs King loft Napier on a trip Home, and nere in Berlin when war was declared. KILLED BY GAS EXPLOSION. Dunedin, This Day. Mary Macwhinnie. aged 53, formerly of North Otago. was killed by a gas explosion aF Tarras. It was stated at the inquest that deceased, while carrying a naked light, opened the gas chamber of an acetylene gas plant. The force of the explosion fractured he# skull, death ensuing in twenty-four hours.
