Extract from a letter written by 11 i* vate George France, of L.evin, to hie parents—"We leave for Alexandria in two hours where we join the ships and some regular regiments. It is fairly well known that we are part of a large force for Turkey. I have been picked for a sniper, which is lucky as it is just the job I wanted. I'o-day we lose the "boss"; he has been made captain. Lieut. Bryan will have us. Well, it is very hard to part with Mr Cross, but then it could have been worse. Musso, of Ohau, was in our "tent yesterday. I am sorry for these mounted men; so far they have taken a back seat and are not wanted. It is a pity, because they are just Tt'; by: far the best mounted men in Egypt, or "anywhere eke for that matter ; they knocV the Australian Light Horse Iftto \ a cocked hat, and they are no rubbish. We will be finished in Turkey and home in two or three mcaiti*."
