Second Edition Queen Carnival Effort.

1 LEVIN'S INTENTIONS. Full seventy people ' crowded 'Miss McKegg's rooms last night, the oceusion being the first meeting of tlie general committee appointed to help forward the Queen Carnival movement of Wellington Province. The funds to be derived from this .movement will be devoting to helping the wounded and indigent soldiers, and already there is evident in this district a whole-hearted determination to make the effort highly successful. The Mayor of Levin, who presided at last night's meeting, reported that hojiad been successful in his efforts to enlist the co-operation ot the settlers in Oliau. Otaki. To Horo, Waikanae, and Paraparauniu. He intended now to visit the tow ns mid districts to the the north ol Lrvin. The meeting set up sub-committees to carry out various functions. • . A strong committee was established to canvass the fanners of the district for donations of live stock to be sold at public auction and the _}>n <Ve<ls added to the general fund.
